淤泥固化技术有其特殊性：1、一般水泥淤泥固化以后的强度不高、变形较大、容易开裂，在公路工程上的应用受到一定的限制。2、河道淤泥多为含腐殖酸软土，软土中的腐殖酸通过阻碍水化反应，分解水化产物等，严重影响水泥、石灰等材料的固化效果。在河道道路铺设的过程中带来困难，淤泥固化的速度缓慢会降低建筑工程的速度。

我国每年淤泥的产量很高，二次利用率很低，这样对环境会造成影响，同时也造成了资源浪费。但是淤泥其实是可以作为道路路基建设的基础材料，因为现有技术中的淤泥固化技术大多是直接添加水泥固化，固化以后的整体结构强度低，淤泥固化以后很难被应用到道路路基建设中。
