焚烧是利用污泥中有机成分高，具有一定热值的特点来处置污泥。焚烧后的淤泥一般用来制砖或作为陶粒，替代砂、砾石或制成轻型陶土砖转化为建筑材料。
Incineration is the disposal of sludge by using the characteristics of high organic composition and certain calorific value in sludge. The burnt sludge is generally used to make bricks or as ceramsite to replace sand and gravel or make light clay bricks and convert them into building materials.
此法的优点就是能够及时的消耗大量的淤泥，而且淤泥建材的资源化往往不需要大的固定资产投资，却能够产生很大的经济效益。缺点就是烧结过程中产生的气体如果处理不当会造成二次污染。
